Cottonwood

Cottonwood is light, soft, of even grain, and easily worked, but tougher and stiffer than basswood. It wears well for a soft wood. About half of the cot-tonwood lumber is used for boxes, and most of the rest for ironing boards, washboards, baskets, etc.
